ATV (4 wheeler) Trails
Marienville ATV/Bike Trail
is a system of 35 miles of interconnecting trails, located along State Route 66 about 15 miles southwest of Kane and 11 miles northeast of Marienville. You can access the trail anywhere it crosses a public road.
Rocky Gap ATV Trail
is a 20.8 mile loop located along the Warren to Tidioute Road, at the intersection of Forest Road (FR) 155 (6 miles south of Warren, PA). You can access this trail anywhere it crosses a public road.
Timberline ATV Trail
is a system of 38 miles of interconnecting trails located on FR 232, one mile south of SR 948 and SR 66 intersection. You can access this trail anywhere it crosses a public road. This trail also connects to the Marienville ATV Trail.
Willow Creek ATV Trail
is a 10.8 mile loop trail located along Forest Road (FR) 137, approximately two miles south of SR 346 and 11 miles west of Bradford.
Riders using an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on the ATV trails on the Allegheny National Forest (NF) are required to show proof of registration and liability insurance before they will be sold a Trail Permit. This requirement does not apply to riders of Off-Highway Motorcycles (OHM).

Hiking
The Deer Lick trail is suitable for hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing. Dogs are allowed on the trial but are requested to be kept on a leash.
This trail area is ungroomed and includes a combination of logging roads, railroad grades, and pipelines that offer challenges to a wide range of skill levels from the novice to the most experienced skier. The Reservoir Loop is suitable for beginning skiers.
Hearts Content located 15 miles from the campground is one of the oldest forests in the area also known as a virgin forest, which means that timber has never been cut. While you stroll or hike through the towering hemlock, there are signs offering information on the wildlife and the many growing plants, which you may find. |
Fishing
The Deer Lick Creek runs through the full length of the campground and contains native trout and cray fish. A fishing license is required for over 16's.
The Allegheny Reservoir features some of the best trophy fishing in the country. It has produced the current Pennsylvania record walleye and northern pike, but if more tranquil fishing suits your taste, the Allegheny River provides some of the best trout fishing in the East. |

Skiing/Snowboarding
Just under 50 miles from the campground is Cockaigne Ski Resort this is a family ski area located in western New York's snow belt. With a base elevation 1100 feet higher than the lake, Cockaigne receives an average 275 inches of snowfall. Cockaigne's combination of slopes (300 feet wide) and New England style trails (15 feet wide) combined with a longest run of 3600 feet provides abundant snow time for the whole family.
Approximately 60 miles from the campground is Ski Denton which has slopes ranging from the steepest in the Eastern states to long, gentle beginner trails, It also has a lighted Snowboard Park and new tube slide.
Approximately 60 miles from the campground is Holiday Valley which has 53 slopes spread over 1100 acres on a 750 foot vertical drop, this gives you plenty of variety no matter what kind of skiing or riding you like. 37 slopes are open at for night skiing and riding. There are 12 lifts that carry over 22,000 skiers per hour and 95% snowmaking coverage keeps the slopes white, even when there's no snow in your own back yard. |
Boating
The Kinzua Dam and the Allegheny Reservoir is a most impressive place to visit, just east of Warren, this flood control/hydro-electric dam was completed in 1965 by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. A federal fish hatchery near the dam rears over 1 million finger sized lake trout every year. The reservoir created by the dam is the perfect setting for a day out. The Kinzua Wolf Run Marina gives easy access to the waterways and also offers, Water Front Dining, Boat Rentals, Boat Launch and Docking, Gasoline, Live Bait and Tackle. There are fishing tournaments held here throughout the year with trophy catches to be caught. |
Chapman State Park
Sledding and Tobogganing: A seven-acre slope on the western side of the park is lighted until 10 p.m., daily. Ice Fishing: Chapman Lake is stocked during the winter. The Warren County Winterfest is held at the park at the end of January each year. |
